The intriguing phrase that I used in the beginning means that in this article we’ll talk about the Japanese wedding dresses. As you guessed traditionally Japanese weddings take place in spring and … autumn. So if you are going to get married soon and you are from Japan or just a fan of a Japanese bride style I prose you’ll find this article interesting.
Firstly, let me say a few words about the Japanese wedding itself. The Japanese wedding ceremony can be divided into 2 main parts: “Shinto
ceremony“ (the formal part in other words) held at shrines and “kekkon hiroen” (the informal part, reception ceremony) held at ceremony halls or hotels).

The Shinto ceremony requires from the bride the traditional Japanese women gown – kimono. This simple straight-lined robe wrapped on the brides’ body and tied with an uki must be of white silk. The white Japanese wedding kimono is called shiro-maku.
Colorful wedding kimono is put on during the reception ceremony and worn is called iro-uchikake.

So the bride has the wear two or even more kimono and change them according the ceremonies. As you see this is not very convenient. So for the contemporary Japanese brides I propose another variant. Find two wedding dresses: a traditional shiro-maku for Shinto ceremony and Japanese-inspired modern wedding dress
for reception party. Thus you won’t need to wear several kimono simultaneously, elaborating one after another according to the ceremony. And won’t resemble Russian “matreshka”. Remember, we have Japanese wedding here!

Rather fresh variant but I’m sure you’ll like it! If you think that there would be a problem with the second dress (I mean Japanese-inspired modern wedding dress) you are wrong. There are plenty of designers, both Western and Eastern, who find inspiration in the Japanese theme.

. Their dresses, found in The Micie bridal boutique in Tokyo, would please you with the sophisticated back and bodice details, which make even simple dress chic and glamorous.


Then I liked Japanese wedding dresses from Setsuko Wakatsuki.
He “specializes on outmarriage?”, combining the traditional Japanese fabrics, obi sash knot and flared kimono style sleeves, serpentina-cuts and chiffon overlays with the Western style.






Of course, if you are lack of money to buy the two Japanese wedding dresses, you can rent them both. But the last thing that I can say there could be no future without traditions. And Japanese people are absolutely right!

We Found a Fashion Critic Who Supports Kanye West’s Collection

Critics have mostly been vociferous and rather merciless in skewering Kanye West’s debut collection, though he has found support in the form of Anna dello Russo, who wore one of his dresses, and Carine Roitfeld, who has been fairly gentle with him. He can now add the Independent‘s Susannah Frankel to the short list of supporters.

Frankel argues that we should all give Kanye a chance. In her article she claims that if Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham have been given chances by the industry, then he should get the same consideration. As for his credentials? Sitting front row at shows for many years and doing collabs with Louis Vuitton and Hermés should be plenty of experience for launching your own RTW womenswear line.

She also sort of skewers Victoria Beckham, writing, “VB’s faux ‘I know I’m not really a designer but I’m learning’ humility, meanwhile, is an affront to the intelligence of all those whose job it is to comment on fashion.” (Kanye essentially said the same thing as VB, didn’t he? He just used the word “fuck” a lot more.) The difference is that Beckham’s collections have generally been well-received by critics since the beginning–everyone assumed she would fail, but she surprised everyone. She also started with a very small collection of dresses, shown in a quiet presentation format, and has grown from there, unlike Kanye, who pretty much announced that he was going to change the face of fashion.

The next point Frankel makes is that though his taste level was deemed questionable, so is Balmain’s. She thought the over-the-top presentation was entertaining, with shades of Tom Ford circa 1998.

We think the industry will give Kanye another chance. One more. If he doesn’t plan better and pull together a more cohesive and well-made collection, he’s going to be written off and relegated to doing Kardashian-style collaborations.

The new ?hristian Dior ready-to-wear collection brought some fresh notes to the catwalk so that I’d rather took some of these fabulous chiffon dresses and put them on because of the unexpectedly hot weather.

Bill Gaytten saw spring/summer collection 2012 in pastel tone: caramel, beige with grey (rather freaky mix, I’ve never thoughts of it, but it works), palest blue.  The festive accent was made by carmine dresses and leather sleeveless jackets. They were just perfect! So effective they were on Karolina Kurkova, opening the show, Miranda Kerr and Karlie Kloss.

Dior’s woman of 50-s is always right and she knows what she wants. If you need a confirmation – read the ?hristian Dior Spring/Summer Collection 2012. Read it in the feminine organza full skirts and boat-necked blouses, in narrow leather belts around the collarless tweed coats, in charming and mystique Stephen Jones’s leather cloche hats. The trousers were specially shortened to show heels embellished with thin chains.

For the evening ?hristian Dior Spring/Summer Collection 2012 wear the fashion designer decided to choose the unmistakable collaboration of lace and chiffon in black-and-white palette. I have no word but gorgeous! I can bet that these transparent and at the same time full of elegance and Dior’s chic evening gowns would soon be spotted at the red carpet. Light as air, grey-blue, nude and black, those gowns fitted numerous layers of chiffon with sexy lace under them.  It could be sexier, but it already has been!

Dolce&Gabbana Ready-To-Wear Spring/Summer 2012 – Milan Fashion Week

D&G Ready-To-Wear Spring/Summer 2012 Collection for Milan Fashion Week could have passed in low spirits as it was literally the last one for D&G. It soon is merging into the Dolce & Gabbana mainline. But instead it was the upbeat beyond all questions.

The atmosphere was set thoroughly. While the D&G 2012 collection strode past, Prince was singing his renown lines, “You don’t have to be rich to be my girl…” And there were colorful, feminine and refined ensembles without the lightness of some previous seasons’ foppish boys and vividly printed dresses.

Bright swirls of accessories were absolutely eye-capturing, particularly the scarves in green and pink, orange and yellow, red, yellow and gold, with polka dot flashes and leopard prints. They were worn in different positions, some wrapped up around the body resulting into ruched dresses or worn on top of each other forming layers, some were cut as the sleeves of denim sweatshirts or worn as a sarong under a white shirt.

Despite the aura of spontaneity which was set by numerous flippant scarves, it was no casual collection. The line gave an impression of a gorgeous whirl of Flamenco, especially the huge hats with colorful scarves, large golden coin waterfalls streaming from earlobes.

An up-to-date and trendy propositions were silky pyjama suits, which by all means looked luxurious in D&G 2012 Collection. The pieces were in contrasting bright prints and would look fine both together and apart.

At the end all the models walked out together as a band of colorful gypsies with loose hair. Each dress looked brighter and more romantic than the last. A fascinating show, indeed.

There’s a special sense of beauty and glamor in Gucci Ready-To-Wear Spring/Summer 2012. As Frida Giannini said she’d just wanted to explore the optical side of feminine fashion. The Gucci 2012 Collection spiced up the Milan Fashion Week by impressive elements from art and photography, from our DNA and design history, by outlining the strong personality. The show presents the generosity of the hedonic era, stylish embroidery against the metropolis skyscrapers’ background and skillful working with 3D effect.

The Gucci 2012 Spring/Summer Collection is full of richly colored fur-and-felt units which attracted the audiences. Therefore, Giannini has completely replaced her love for the 70s by the glossy novelty of the modern era.

Special atmosphere was set by gold-and-black cocktail dresses with ornate art-deco beading around the waist. Gucci jackets also look like a great investment for the coming season. They are slightly shortened, collarless and decorated with gold-and-black adornments.

The Gucci Ready-To-Wear Spring/Summer 2012 could also boast some animal themes. For example, the double-breasted jackets with equestrian references via frog latches, or giraffe and zebra prints merged with leopard spots.

As lustrous as ever, the collection prevailed with black, white and gold perfect pieces along with smoky eyes. Many outfits were just slightly touched with a gold shades. For instance, a strapless green piece had a line of gold around the hips or the bronze-touched gladiator sandals with killer high heels.

Among the new and glossy models there were the old Gucci sexy ensembles–a cutaway black swimsuit, with a transparent touch of chiffon over it, and low-cut silky dresses.

Vera Wang Ready-To-Wear Spring/Summer 2012 – New York Fashion Week

This season the icon of fashion Vera Wang presented her mysterious collection for the New York Fashion Week. Vera Wang Spring/Summer 2012 Collection was inspired by a psychedelic fairytale muse – Alice in Wonderland. It contained mostly youthful and hyper-progressive spring designs which couldn’t be compared with Vera Wang dresses of bridal and gown-shaped style, in the slightest.

The atmosphere was set by the childish melody background from an antique music box. While the catwalk was hit by Victorian-style sporty ensembles with numerous layers of snowy white, changing slowly to the graphic and abstract prints and colour variations: from yellowish to grey, then from rose to cobalt or indigo.

The well-known audience in front rows was startled at the final floor-length numbers. Among them where:  Beyonce Knowles, Kim Kardashian, Jen Brill (Chanel ambassador) and others. The Vera Wang 2012 was an obvious exploration of fine tailoring and transparency, which combined together, gave a cutting-edge and unique effect.

A number of vests and jackets with hoods and short-cut shorts added the collection an athletic edge. In addition some bodices and corset-garments borrowed from modern fetish streams brought in some chic and subtlety. While some of the outfits in Vera Wang’s Ready-To-Wear 2012 Collection carried a psychedelic character, especially the organza and tulle pieces and meringue-like mini-skirts, the majority was original and practically wearable.
