Thanks MTV, Shain Gandee’s Family Can’t Afford Funeral

Anyone who has seen Buckwild knows that that Shain Gandee loved him some muddin’. Laugh if you want but there is honestly nothing to do in rural West Virginia other than…well…drink beer, blow stuff up, and drive in the mud. If his death wasn’t sad enough, his family is reporting that they can’t afford to bury this redneck prince. I know what you’re thinking: “Bullshit! He was famous and on TV!” Yes, but he was on MTV. This channel is notorious for making its reality stars famous but not rich in their first season. (Snookie worked her first season on Jersey Shore for $800 and a case of pube lice shampoo.)

The dirt poor kids of Buckwild were reportedly paid 1,000 per episode which means that for the 12 episode season they made 12k gross. Seeing as the average funeral nowadays costs 10k you can see the problem. MTV exploits the poor and the stupid for their own profit margins and grudgingly pays up. If they could pay them in Natural Light and Marlboro Reds they would. The family is having a “mud run” which is a race in the mud I guess, to raise money to bury Shain. MTV should fucking pay for his funeral. It’s the least they can do for the shit-ton of money they are going to make using his death to boost ratings.

What’s mudding like in Buckwild’s hometown of Sissonville? Here’s a primer.
