Jay Leno Congratulates New Tonight Show Host Jimmy Fallon: "He's Going to Do a Great Job"

Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon are continuing to play nice. After NBC announced Wednesday, April 3 that in Spring 2014 Late Night host Fallon will replace Leno as host of The Tonight Show, the two comedians used the opening monologues of their respective currents that same evening to share their thoughts on the news.

Leno, 62, who will have hosted The Tonight Show for 22 years when he retires next year, congratulated Fallon -- but cracked a few jokes at Late Show host David Letterman and NBC's expense. "Folks, I got to be honest with you, I had a really awkward day today. I had to call David Letterman and tell him he didn't get the Tonight Show again," he quipped. "Awful! Terrible!"

Getting a bit more earnest -- but still taking a jab at NBC's struggling ratings -- "I want to congratulate our good friend Jimmy Fallon. He is a hell of a guy. He's going to do a great job. I just have one request for Jimmy: we've all fought, kicked, and scratched, to get this network up to 5th place, now we have to keep it there!" he joked. "Jimmy, don't let it slip into 6th! We are counting on you! We're counting on you Jimmy."

"Things move so quickly; Jimmy hasn't even taken over yet and the rumors have already starting," he added. "Like NBC says in five years they plan to replace Jimmy with Justin Bieber. They are moving too quickly! Moving too quickly!"

Concluding his comments on the big transition, Leno shared his future career plans with the audience. "Today I accepted a new position; I am going to be the head basketball coach at Rutgers University!" he joked of the school, which recently fired its coach amid controversy. "Thank you very much!"

Meanwhile, Fallon shared kind words toward Leno during his monologue on Late Night.

"Hello! Welcome! This is Late Night with Jimmy Fallon . . . for now," the 38-year-old comedian began. "You guys probably heard the news -- I'm going to be taking over The Tonight Show next February! But don't worry. Until February, our focus is right here on whatever this show is called," he joked.

"I want to thank everyone here at Late Night, the staff, the crew, and of course The Roots. I have to say thanks to Jay Leno for being so gracious," he added. "It means so much to me to have his support. I just want to thank the fans for staying up to 12:35 a.m. and watching us."

Fat Samoans Are Going To Need To Pay More To Fly

Should airlines charge fatty fatty boom batties more to fly? That’s what Samoan airlines is proposing. It’s a fact of physics that the more weight a plane carries the more fuel it uses. It’s why airlines started charging for bags to offset rising fuel costs. Some airlines already ask really fat passengers to buy two seats, as they did with girthy director Kevin Smith. To be fair, Samoans are fucking fat. Think of the one thing you know about Samoans. Is it that they are fat? That’s because they are the second fattest nation on Earth. But you know who else is fucking fat? We are! So, should our airlines start charging fatties extra money? You bet your fat flaps they should. We need to stop coddling the fat. And the anorexic bulimics too. Get everybody somewhere in that happy middle by making all the outliers broke and miserable. Samoa shall shine the light!

Missoni for Target Shopping Frenzy Crashes Retailer’s Site Within Hours of Going Live

Well, we could have seen this coming: The excitement around the 400-piece Missoni for Target collection–and the millions of eager shoppers–have crashed the retailer’s website.

At 6:04 am, Target tweeted that the online exclusives were now available for purchase on their site; by 6:46 am, the entire collection was up on their site–But a mere hour later, tweeters were reporting issues with the site, and by 10:00 am the retailer began responding to complaints and acknowledged the site was down. At 10:30 am, the retailer confirmed that “the overwhelming demand for #MissoniforTarget ended up taking our site down.”

Cue a million disappointed shoppers. But while you may have missed a good night’s sleep in anticipation of the collection, don’t get too despondent. Target, via their very responsive twitter account@TargetStyle, is assuring customers that the site should be back up soon, promising an estimate at around 11:00am today. (It’s now 11:15. Still down.)

And for those willing to risk life and limb for one of the collaboration’s zig-zagged pieces–you can always try one of Target’s brick and mortar stores, of which the retailer assures us “many” will be restocking the collection, though we can only imagine the frenzy there.

Snooki’s Going to Fashion Week! So are Kendall, Kylie and Brody Jenner and Teresa Giudice

We just received a press release confirming the attendance of one very important reality TV star at a show this week: the incomparable Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. It was only a matter of time before the Jersey Shore star (and budding accessories designer) made her New York Fashion Week debut; we’re sure she’ll do it with the utmost style and class.

She’s attending the bebe BLACK Fashion Show on Monday, which is part of the STYLE360 semi-annual New York Fashion Week Showcase at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Also a part of that showcase: Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne. Surprised? Neither were we. Confirmed “celebrities” there include Kylie Jenner, who, as we previously reported, will walk the show; as well as Kendall Jenner, Brody Jenner and, inexplicably, The Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s Teresa Giudice. Maybe her daugher Gia is walking in the show, too?

We’re not sure why Style 360's shows are shaping up to be so reality TV star-heavy, but it should be interesting nonetheless. Congrats to Bebe on their Snooki coup. They might get almost as much attention from this as Abercrombie did from their ‘we’ll pay the Situation to stop wearing our clothes’ press release. Also hilarious: the MisShapes are DJ’ing. Leigh Lezark and Snooki in the same room? Can’t handle.
