Peep the Full Muppets X Opening Ceremony Collection Featuring Hipster Versions of Kermit, Miss Piggy and More

The highly-anticipated (we think?) Muppets X Opening Ceremony collection is now available at Opening Ceremony stores and online. There are no faux fur coats or feather boas and the collection is actually quite simple and casual, which we like. It’s also pretty affordable, which we like even more. It’s comprised of an assortment of tees, sweatshirts, button-downs and sweaters featuring your favorite Muppets like you’ve never seen them before. Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal, Fozzie and Gonzo are all credited as wearing Opening Ceremony FW 11. It’s kind of amazing.

So how did the collection come together? Well Miss Piggy demanded glamour, Animal had to include his sticks, Kermit nodded a lot, Fozzie got the giggles and well, Beaker just panicked. As Kermie says in the new MOVIE TRAILER, “The Muppets have always been about artistic integrity.”

If the goal of the collaboration was to make the Muppets’ image a little bit hipper, this should have done the trick. Click through to see the full collection.

Miss Piggy Will Be at Opening Ceremony’s FNO Extravaganza to Promote New Collab Muppets x Opening Ceremony

Opening ceremony has a lot going on for their carnival-themed Fashion’s Night Out bash in and around their Ace Hotel store location.

Firstly, the beloved indie department store will announce this year’s country of focus: Argentina. They’ll be partnering with 125-year-old Argentinean textile company Alpargatas to create limited edition shoes and clothing inspired by traditional Argentinean styles–in particular, they’ll be hawking jupe-soled Alpargatas (aka espadrille-like slip-ons), which, in case you hadn’t guessed, were pioneered by the company. Opening Ceremony will also carry Argentine designers, including JUNGLE Vi.Ai.Pi., Ale Sly, and Chicco Ruiz, to customize styles, colorways, and fabrications for the retailer and brand–all of which will become available this September.

Best of all though, is that Miss Piggy (yes, really) will be stopping by the brand’s store in the Ace Hotel this Fashion’s Night Out. Why you ask? To unveil her new collection with the brand, Muppets x Opening Ceremony a.k.a the best news we’ve heard all morning (and we’d still say that even if it weren’t a dreadfully slow summer news day)! No word yet on what the line will include, but we’re hoping for some very fuzzy faux-fur coats and diva-worthy boas.

Other highlights from Opening Ceremony’s Fashion’s Night Out bash include live dance performances outfitted by Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Suno, and Opening Ceremony; a raffle to win a PS1 hosted by the Proenza Schouler boys, a magic show hosted by the Rodarte girls; a Tumblr-sponsored photo booth that will have your pretty mugs uploaded in real time to the brand’s just-unveiled Tumblr, and so, so much more.

Check Out OPI’s Glittery New Nail Polish Line Inspired By the Muppets

I think Christmas has come early this year, because today we have two whole Muppets-related posts and they weren’t even on our wish list!

In honor of the forthcoming Muppets movie, OPI will release 12 limited-edition nail colors inspired by your favorite puppets. The collection will hit stores early November 2011, just in time for you to nab a shade and wear it for the November 23 premiere of the movie.

The range will include classic and deep reds, two metallic shades and a slew of glittery polishes, including rainbow, red, purple, pink, blue and–of course–a to-die-for green that might make “being green” a little bit easier for Kerm.

And since it’s OPI, one of the best parts of the collection is of course the funny names the nail polish company comes up with. Our favorites? “Excuse Moi! Ahem! This pink glitter has something to say!” and “Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It! Red glittery fun for everyone!” And, okay, so maybe we have a wee bit of a Miss Piggy bias–but can you blame us? That divine swine is going to work these polishes. And make an appearance on FNO for Opening Ceremony.
