Is It Ever OK to Change Your Eye Color to Match Your Dress? Deena from Jersey Shore Shows Us How It’s Done

There’s a lot of debate in beauty circles about how matchy-matchy you should get with your makeup and your outfit. Paz de la Huerta took some criticism for seemingly always matching her lipstick to her dress, which we actually think looks pretty good. And there’s an old school ladylike trend happening this fall, where we’ll see more matching lipstick and nail polish. The beauty of makeup is that you can change it, and women have a long history of wanting to change what nature has given them.

But can you–or rather, should you–change the actual color of your features? Deena from Jersey Shore, who is naturally brown-eyed, debuted some light green colored contacts last night at the VMA’s, presumably to coordinate with her very colorful ensemble.

Women change their hair color, their breast size, and their skin color, so why does it seem so unnatural and dramatic to change your eye color? We actually saw quite a few offerings of colored contacts at the recent Cosmoprof convention in Las Vegas. At the time, we thought, “Do people still wear these?” The answer is obviously yes. Eye color is such a unique part of a human being, and the eyes are so expressive, so it seems doubly dramatic to change them. Deena looks really different with a new eye color (see her at the 2010 VMA’s below).

Would you wear colored contact lenses?
