Heidi Klum Most Dangerous Star On The Web

Google the words “Heidi Klum” and you’re computer could likely end up with something itchy.

Maybe its the killer curves or girlish good looks — Who knows? — but Heidi Klum is the most lethal lady on the Interwebs!

Tech experts have named Klum the most dangerous celebrity in cyberspace, inviting malware, spyware, spam, phishing, and other viruses designed to steal personal information to flourish on computers. According to online security company McAfee Inc., fans searching for screensavers and downloads of the former Victoria’s Secret Angel and Project Runway judge have about a one-in-10 chance of landing on a site that can damage their PC or laptop.

Heidi unseated Cameron Diaz, who topped the cyberspace danger list in 2010, and was No. 2 in this year’s ranking. Cyber criminals often used the name of popular celebrities to lure people to websites that are laden with malicious software. Singers and sports stars tended to be safer searches than screen stars and supermodels, McAfee explains. Newsmaking doesn’t seem to be a draw for hackers. Charlie Sheen, whose antics and acrimonious departure from TV’s Two and a Half Men dominated headlines last spring, was ranked 59th on the list. Lindsay Lohan was 18th, despite a barrage of scandals that kept her in an out of court and jail for much of the year.

“While slightly safer than last year, searching for top celebrities continues to generate risky results. Consumers should be particularly aware of malicious content hiding in ‘tiny’ places likes shortened URLs that can spread virus in social networking sites, or through emails and text messages,” Paula Greve, director of Web security research at McAfee. explains.

CNN talk show host Piers Morgan, also a judge on America’s Got Talent, was the most dangerous male celebrity in the survey.
