But not everyone is aware of Kardashian and Humphries even though they are expected to be on nearly every entertainment page in country over the weekend.
"I've been asked many times who are these Kardashian people? And I said they're famous for being famous," said columnist Richard Mineards with the Montecito Journal. Mineards began revealing details of the wedding in his weekly column in July.
"It certainly is going to be an enormous wedding. It will cost millions of dollars," said Mineards. I mean the ring itself that Kris Humphries gave to Kim cost supposedly two million dollars. It's a 20.5 carat sparkler!"
The wedding is reported to be on a private estate on Sycamore Canyon road. Security is already tight. with workers on walkie talkies out front, and patrolling on carts to keep inquisitive visitors away. Parking has been restricted . The iron gates out front have been covered up.
"It's an extravaganza profligate spending at it's worst really. Supposedly they're spending 10 million dollars on this event.
It's going to be black, white and silver. They're flying in thousands of white roses from South Africa."
And among the 500 guest coming to this event?
Mineards says. "You've got Justin Beiber, supposedly, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Ryan Seacrest, Jay Z, you just name it. It's celebrity social gridlock here this weekend."
But Montecito has not exactly been keeping up with the Kardashians to even know what's happening.
"I've never heard of them but they're celebrities in a narrow nitch of our society. Sort of a who gives a damn society," said resident Bob Burton.
Another resident near the upper Village shopping area, Bonnie Blomfield said she doesn't always believe the gossip about the stars she hears. "Sometimes filtered through the media I don't know if I'm seeing what 's real or not ," she said.
As much as Mineards is watching the event unfold carefully with catering trucks coming and going at the estate, and helicopters spinning over head, he says, "we're all getting sucked into it, at least temporarily. And then on Monday morning we can breathe a deep sign of relief, and go have a cup of coffee at Pierre Lafond.....yes!"
